Hello All Deviants!

This is our latest moth hatching for this weekend.  It is a female moth (note the antennae)...BUT she isn't a Promethea moth and with those colors you know she isn't a Luna moth.  So I am in the mood to play a little game with y'all!  I would like someone out there to correctly identify Lana's species.

Initially when Lana hatched, we thought she was a male because her antennae were so large.  But after using my wife's GREAT Samsung phone camera, I was able to zoom in Lana's face really close (and what a pretty face she has indeed!)  I was able to see the alternating short, long, short long pattern in her antenna.  Also her abdomen was much to large to be male.   This is the first time I am dealing with this species of moth, so I am learning as I go.  I have talked about the species quite a lot here on DA, but this is my first experience with this type of moth.

Lana hatched on Friday night and to the wide eyes of my son's it wasn't the type of moth they were expecting.  I surprised them with something special and Lana is very special indeed.  So much so that this time I named her.  The boys immediately like her chosen name.

Once her huge wings were dry I took her out of the hatching cage and put her in a much larger cage.  This cage has VERY soft netting and I am hoping it will help to extend the life of the moth's wings.

Speaking of very soft...After her wings were dry, I gave Lana a rub on her abdomen and I must say she is one of the softest things I ever touched.  She didn't even flinch!  She likes to have her tummy rubbed!  She is also VERY beautiful just like her namesake:

Just you WAIT until you see her wings!

I will reveal what type of moth Lana is in a few days, but I am wondering of those that have been following my posts if YOU can figure out the type of moth she is.
